Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has finally ended uncertainty about his future by agreeing a five-year, free-transfer summer move to Juventus worth around £36 million.

The 28-year-old Wales international had already been told by new Arsenal manager Unai Emery that he did not feature in his plans at the Emirates and will soon bring to an end his 10-year association with the north London club.

“Aaron Ramsey next June, done deal," Italian journalist Fabrizioi Romano tweeted on Wednesday night. “His agent will be in Italy soon to meet Juventus director Paratici and sign the contract for next season. Here we go!”

He is in line to earn up to £140,000 a week with the Italian club, which works out at £7.2m a season, although Cristiano Ronaldo is Juventus’ highest-paid player.

Juventus are nine points clear at the top of Serie A and are expected to win their eighth straight league title. However, the club wants to make more of an impression in the Champions League, having featured in two of the last four finals, losing to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Ramsey joined Arsenal for £4.8m from Cardiff City and has played 252 games for Arsenal, scoring 52 goals. His honours include three FA Cup final wins. However, his career has been blighted by injury and Arsenal decided to renew the contract of Mesut Ozil - another star whose deal was due to expire this summer - instead of the Welshman.

With Ozil yet to prove Arsenal have made the right call, many fans will be sorry to see Ramsey - a player with so much promise - leave for free.
