Former QPR and Swansea City defender joins Turkish Süper Lig side

Steven Caulker has joined Turkish Süper Lig side Alanyaspor, as confirmed by their official club Twitter account today.

The 27-year-old has moved to Turkey on a deal until the end of the season. He has been looking for a new club since leaving Scottish Premiership side Dundee at the end of August.

Caulker impressed for Dundee last season in the 17 games he played for them. He started his career at Tottenham Hotspur and rose through the youth ranks at White Hart Lane before going onto play 29 times for their first-team.

He also enjoyed loan spells away from Spurs at Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Swansea City before leaving on a permanent basis to join Cardiff City in 2013. Caulker could not prevent the Bluebirds from relegation to the Championship in his first and only season in Wales but he did secure a move to QPR the following summer.

Caulker went onto feature on 54 occasions for the Hoops and also had loan stints at Southampton and Liverpool during his time at Loftus Road. Scotland was then the next destination for him but the once England international is now looking to test himself in Turkey.

Alanyaspor were promoted to the top flight for the first time in their history in 2016 and have stayed up over since. They are managed by former PSG midfielder Safet Sušić and their stadium, the Bahçeşehir Okulları Stadium, holds around 10,000 fans.
