Bart Happy to Sign Permanently at Millwall
Thursday, 16th Jan 2020 10:24

Blues keeper Bartosz Bialkowski says he’d be happy to join his loan club Millwall on a permanent basis.

As things stand, Bialkowski, 32, is due to remain with the Lions until the end of the season but Town manager Paul Lambert revealed last week that the two clubs were discussing a permanent switch, a development the Polish international, who has quickly become a fans' favourite at Millwall, says he would favour.

“Absolutely, yeah. I’ve said I’m enjoying it and when you’re enjoying something it’s so much easier to make a decision,” he told NewsatDen when asked if he'd like a full-time switch.

“Obviously it’s not down to me. There are three parties involved in the situation. For me, I can say I would be very happy if I signed here on a permanent deal.”

Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers were also keen on signing Bialkowski on a permanent basis during this window but under the loan deal agreed in the summer the Blues had only a limited period in which they could recall the Polish international in January in order to sell him elsewhere with the cut-off date having passed last week.

Bialkowski, who is on Town’s most lucrative current contract which runs until the summer of 2021 with the club having an option for a further season, joined Millwall on loan in July after a permanent £900,000 move broke down the previous month due to concerns regarding his knee which emerged in a medical.

Not going to say any different is he. Would love him back here but 500k will see him gone I would presume.

Am I missing something, If he is contracted until 2021 and is so sought after surely we can sell him for more than the paltry 900k offered before? He is still our player if multiple parties after him let them fight up out and for once we can cash in ??

With the wonderful benefit of hindsight it's a shame we did not cash in on Bart after his 3 top seasons with us. Sure he would have commanded a few million at that time, probably lucky if we get 1m now unless a bidding war happens. Hopefully we'll see him return when his playing days are up.

Have we not learnt anything. Going rate is a lot more. Bart makes a difference to any team

Seems to have changed his tune a bit----fair enough Bart but only at the right price!!

Difficult to get a bidding war going in January for a player who cannot be recalled from loan and can only immediately sign for Millwall.

If PL has targets and what we would consider a low valuation would enable us to get these targets then a deal will be done

I'll miss Bart on the "sentimental" level, as he adhered himself to the fans, but I don't think he will be missed at all on the pitch. We have two very good replacements. Time to move on.

we need some cash , and have to sell to get it, other clubs know it, and as they say begger's cant be choosers Thats the reality of it. He wants out so no point in bleating about it now, We will cash in , regardless.Lets face it , its been coming for a long time .

Are we so desperate for 500k, wait until end season and then see who needs a keeper, might even be us!

2021, and presumably the standard option for another year. 900k was a joke but justified by poor form, but nowhere near enough for a keeper playing well again in the Championship.

Come on PL, post something about how £3m is a joke and drive that price up.

He had his time at Portman Road. Sell him and move on. In the market he is still Worth 900K. If he refuses to og to another Club than Millwall and they wont pay market value he is free to play for Ipswich NeXT season.

So many supporters really do not understand how things work in the transfer market. It's easy to say "he's worth more than that" and "we should stick to our guns on price" but the reality is that, rightly or wrongly, the player has so much more influence than any other party in these situations.
If Bart wants a permanent move to Millwall, which he obviously does then Ipswich have very little option other than to take what is on offer regardless of who else is interested in him otherwise you run a serious risk of being lumbered with a player on your books who doesn't want to play for you, is unsettled and ends up running his contract down whilst you pay him extortionate wages before leaving on a free transfer..... Wake up people this is real football not FIFA on the Xbox!

It's a nice thing he developed a nice relationship with the Town fans.

He's now doing that elsewhere and wanting out, essentially.

I'm not so bothered as he played a real role in our relegation, so he'd have to restore my faith.

Kinda just want us to move on.

I think we are missing the millwall point, they want Bart and then say can't sign him because of injury. Fair enough but then take him online for a year, paying his wages and knowing that ipswich want to reduce our wage bill. At the next opportunity buy him for a reduced price and not bothered by his so called defective knee. Seems a bit dubious to me

Personally would take any money offered , he had a very poor season last year and cost us numerous points after having so many great seasons .
We need money to invest to gain promotion and that has to be the goal , at present we are the only team to have let more people go than we have signed in the division in January . Was hoping Evans would have learnt by now that his way is not working ?

Don't sell him this window, wait to see what offers come in end of season! At the end of the day likely to be his last contract and if a better contract for him comes in it could be better for all parties.

I hope he doesn't go there for a reduced fee , Millwall are and have been underhanded in all this!

His knee seems to now not be a problem then, funny that. Dirty tricks by Millwall, don't see why we should do them any favours. Wait until the end of the season and then see what happens. I presume they are paying all his wages whilst on loan.

Call it underhand, dirty tricks, dubious if you like. It's also clever. Cleverer than we are.

I'd tell them its still 900k or we will sell him somewhere else in summer

Message for O'Neill - so you missed the deadline to bring him back when there were 3 clubs interested in signing him, Millwall are the only one's who can now and they can name their price, which probably doesn't meet your evaluation. Would have been useful to have some funds for our promotion push...oh I forgot that goes to running the club not buying players. Easier putting out cones isn't it?
