According to Football Insider’s Wayne Veysey, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town are involved in a race to land Wolves’ hot-property defender Dion Sanderson who is currently displaying his talents at their league rivals, Cardiff.
Tipping their hat to a ‘Wolves source’, Football Insider and Veysey say that they have been told that boss Nuno Santos is “ready to let Sanderson go out on loan again” next season – whenever that will prove to be.
20-year-old Sanderson, who came up through the youth ranks at Molineux, has spent part of this season on loan in the Championship at Cardiff City, where he has featured in three games and has notched up an assist.
Despite only playing three games and 261 minutes, his displays and potential have not gone unnoticed. Not only have Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town’s eyes been opened, but Cardiff are also “keen on taking Sanderson back for next season” according to Veysey.
The Black Country outfit rated Sanderson very highly but there is a thought that he hasn’t quite reached the level where he can realistically challenge defensive incumbents at Molineux for a place in the first-team set-up.
The above trio of Sky Bet Championship sides said to be interested in a temporary deal for Sanderson next season yet they will also have to contend with interest said to be coming from Premier League sides Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion.
With the latter interest, Wolves could have a big decision to make as to youngster Sanderson and his future at the club. Villa and Brighton’s interest is hardly likely to be one where a loan deal is proposed and is more likely to be an offer of a permanent deal.
