Conor McGregor loses eye-watering $500k bet on Paddy Pimblett vs Michael Chandler as ‘The Baddy’ delivers fiery response

Conor McGregor has parted with $500,000 after placing a mammoth bet on Paddy Pimblett vs Michael Chandler.
The pair squared off in the chief support slot of UFC 314 in Miami, Florida, on Saturday night.
Before both men locked horns, McGregor backed his old rival Chandler to get the job done via a 'brutal KO'.
The wager would have returned him $2.5million if it had come to fruition.
However, Pimblett pulled off the third-round TKO victory in a career-best showing.
In the immediate aftermath, the Liverpudlian heard about McGregor's bet, and his response was priceless.
"Cheeky b***** cheeky little b******. The Scouse are meant to back each other," he said post-fight.
"I didn't expect that from Conor lad. If you want to come back, Con, I'm here, son.
"I'm waiting. I'll mufti you just like I have muftied Chandler."
It's a fight Pimblett would love to have, but he has his reservations.
"I don't think he is coming back," he added of McGregor. "He's got enough money, he doesn't need to come back.
"But if he does that, then the Baddy is waiting for him."
Chandler, who has fallen to 2-5 inside the UFC Octagon, was meant to fight McGregor last June, but the dual-weight UFC champion pulled out of the fight due to a toe injury.
Taking to social media before the fight, McGregor wrote: "What's up, everybody.
"It's the 'Notorious' … I want to wish you all a great fight night tonight, and come through for my best bet of the night.
"The fight I'm interested in is Michael Chandler vs Paddy Pimblett. And I'm going Michael Chandler to win, and win by KO.
"Though Paddy has improved in his last few outings, I still fancy Chandler to do it.
"Let's go, boys."
McGregor's UFC return has never seemed further away, but the Irishman reignited speculation on Thursday when he revealed his interest in Pimblett's bout with Chandler.
"I've seen it, obviously. I got sent it by a good few people," Pimblett responded when asked about McGregor's remarks at the UFC 314 pre-fight press conference on Thursday night.
McGregor had uploaded a video to social media of himself smashing pads with his coach and captioned it with a message for Chandler and Pimblett.
"I am interested in the Chandler/Pimblett fight this weekend," he wrote.
Pimblett added: "I’d welcome that fight, that’s where the money is at.
“But I can’t look past Michael. I’ve got to fight Michael on Saturday night and get the win here. That’s all that matters.”
