If Birmingham City’s players needed a cup final boost, they don’t come much better than from one of the greatest athletes of all time.

The Blues are taking on Peterborough this afternoon looking to claim their first piece of silverware in 14 years and co-owner Tom Brady will be in attendance.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion became a minority investor in the club in August 2023 and has seen them flying this season, already securing Championship promotion next season.

Yet nothing beats silverware, and with the EFL Vertu Trophy final on the line, Brady has given the team a pre-match prep-talk.

Posting to his 15million followers on Instagram, he said: "There's a moment in every player's journey when everything, all the sacrifices, pain and endless hours come down to one, final opportunity.

"So Blues, this is your time. You've earned it, now go make it count.

"Winning a trophy, it's more than just a prize. It's the culmination of a journey.

"This is your moment, so take it. Keep right on."

Brady is considered by many as the greatest NFL player of all time, being named Super Bowl MVP on five occasions to add to his seven wins.

His arrival in English football has sparked a rivalry of sorts with fellow celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in charge at another League One side - Wrexham.

However, things haven’t been too competitive on the pitch as big-spending Birmingham have left the rest of the division in their wake to secure promotion and claim the League One title trophy.

Now with another prize on the line, the sense of occasion is certainly being felt by those heading to Wembley, with chairman Tom Wagner adding some words to supporters.

"Blues fans, I'm on my way to see you all at Wembley,” he said. I cannot wait for what should be a great day for us, particularly after securing our spot at the top of the table for this season.

“I'm very excited about all we've accomplished and even more excited about what is to come.

"Let's make it a wonderful day for everyone and let's not forget all the hard work, all the sacrifice that got us here, particularly Lyndon [Dykes] with that incredible goal in the semi to put us into Wembley for what should be incredible.

"I can't wait to see everybody. Keep right on and see you soon."
